Episode 32 is here, along with the Open Cup, the Gold Cup, Copa America, and the Women’s World Cup! Here on Defenders, we thought we take a small break from all the cups (and shooey’s!) to sit down with an incredible father and son duo, Mathew and Nima Bahri.
Mathew has been covering soccer for Persian radio in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years, the last two of which have involved covering LAFC. We talk all things soccer with Mathew, including LAFC, Steven Beitashour, and his son’s budding professional career.
For the second half of the episode, we bring in a fourth chair, Nima Bahri. Nima has gone from rec league soccer star, to CIF title game winning goal scorer, to now a professional, signing a contract with Cascavel Clube Recreativo in Brazil. He’s also on the radar for both the US and Iranian U20 national teams.
Full disclosure: J.R. (The Scarf) has known the Bahri family for over 20 years, and it was a blast to have them on the pod. We thank the Bahri family (including Mojy and Niki) for welcoming us into their home. Enjoy a fun interview with a proud father and his young son, brimming with enthusiasm and energy. Thanks for tuning in once again to Defenders of the Banc!
